Description

The incumbent of the position is expected to function as a Sales Lead of the assigned region with an overall retail sales & marketing responsibility. The incumbent will own and determine geo expansion plan/priority, manage the relationships with key retailers and sub-distributors, and work with marketing to execute local programs in order to achieve the sales targets. Despite very minimal internal people management responsibility is expected, the person filling this position will need to mobilize external resources, e.g. outsourced agencies and sub-distributors, to effectively manage the business in the region.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Own the sales quota (by region, by sub-distributors and by retailers sell-thru) in the assigned region
  • Own the geo/channel expansion plan
  • Overall management & development of sub-distributors in the region
  • Overall management of national chains whose headquarters in located in the region
  • Work closely with the country marketing and outsourced agencies to determine and execute local channel/consumer programs
  • Work with the necessary support functions to develop the in-region retailers to increase sell-thru and to drive a favorable sales mix
  • Own the relationships with key organizations/influencers vital to the long-term growth of WD in the region; act as the spokesperson in the region
  • Drive the WD/SanDisk/HGST brand awareness & channel/customer preference in the region
  • Play a key role in working with marketing and the outsourced agencies to drive & execute merchandising, promoter and retail development programs
  • Be an expert in the region and be able to develop an in-depth knowledge of the region, including, but not limited to, market trend, competition, customer requirements and key press/media

Requirements - essential

  • University graduates, with a minimum of 10 years work experience in sales and marketing

  • Experience of working with/in the distribution channel a must

  • Proven records in channel development and planning across a >12-month period

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence both internal & external colleagues

  • Must be able to work independently with excellent self-discipline; always work with uncompromising integrity

  • People management experience

  • Ability and willingness to travel

Requirements - preferred

 

  • Experience in the IT or consumer electronics industry or on-line

  • Experience of working extensively with an outsourced company
