ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide in depth working knowledge of Linux

  • Expertise in Linux system installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, tuning and troubleshooting

  • Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences

  • Configuration of mail systems, system installation (kickstart, cobbler) and configuration, system security techniques/best practices, system monitoring/management best practices, installing third-party software

  • Provide Engineering and Operational support for the Linux/Unix infrastructure

  • Participates on the weekly rotation for after hours on-call support

  • Contributes original designs for the Linux/Unix Infrastructure

  • Develops Systems Roadmaps

  • Participates in formal design reviews in relation to new projects and legacy systems

  • Deploys and supports Linux Server systems. Participates in root cause analysis for outage incidents.

  • Provides information to team lead to assess ability to meet non-functional requirements

  • Provides high-availability and disaster recovery infrastructure designs

  • Creates and maintains documentation of systems processes and procedures

  • Develop design, processes and procedures for disaster recovery and high availability

  • Ensures architecture, design and build documentation is complete

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of RedHat and CentOS Linux

  • Experience with Virtualization, specifically VMWare ESXi and fail-over scenarios

  • Experience with Configuration Management Tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

  • Shell scripting; BASH, Perl, Python

  • Familiar with Dell, HP and Cisco UCS hardware

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with ASIC HPC EDA environments

  • Knowledge of VDI solutions like Citrix, Exceed OnDemand, VNC, ETX

  • Familiar with Job Schedulers like LSF, RTDA NC, SGE, Slurm

  • Experience crafting and running large scale data centers with thousands of servers

  • Crafting and leading services in public clouds such as AWS, Azure
