DESCRIPTION:

 

The Thermal Design Engineer will be responsible for Thermal and Mechanical Systems design of Enterprise Solid State Drives (SSDs).  This position requires working closely with the electrical, manufacturing, program, firmware, and mechanical teams to provide thermal technical leadership for high volume enterprise class products.  This lead role position will need to provide thermal design engineering for multiple simultaneous programs. 

 

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

·         Develop best in class thermal mitigation strategies for electronic assemblies using simulation/modeling tools

·         Experience in specifying thermal interface materials and their qualification

·         Design experiments to correlate thermal simulations with lab measurement

·         Component level Thermal Characterization of SSD and System level Validation

·         Proactively identify and solve thermal design issues at PCBA, enclosure, and rack level

·         Provide technical guidance to mechanical engineering team

·         Work with internal/external customers to define requirements for mechanical and thermal subsystems

·         Ensure smooth customer qualification with no thermal or mechanical issues

·         Perform thorough thermal evaluations of customer systems

·         Provide guidance and recommendations to customers including technical design reviews and design support – some travel required

·         Publish and maintain thermal design guidelines taking into account feasibility, functionality, cost, and time to market

·         Work with the program engineering teams to achieve technically robust, cost efficient and patentable thermal mitigation techniques

·         Identify and resolve cross-functional development issues

·         Define and approve changes to top level assemblies

·         Participate in the integration of electronics, firmware, and mechanical components during the development of new products

·         Recommend appropriate technical tradeoffs to program management

·         Participate in the conceptual and architectural definition of new products. 

·         Aware of technical advances within the industry and applies this knowledge to SSD products and processes. Your contributions will have an immediate impact on the Company's success in our fast-paced environment

·         Experience with Solidworks 2016 or higher

·         Expertise in CFD required (Icepak, FloTherm, Solidworks Flow Simulaiton). Solidworks Flow simulation strongly preferred

 

 

Qualifications:
 

Education:

 

The successful candidate will have a minimum 10 years combination of knowledge and experience as follows:

 

   BSME and 10 years of experience; or an MSME and 7 years of experience.

  •    Must be detail-oriented with good organization and analytical skills
