You will lead the electrical development of storage system enclosures consisting of hard drives, fans, power supplies and printed circuit board assemblies with high-speed communication interfaces. You will be responsible for the development of PCBAs through the entire design cycle, including writing specifications, performing schematic capture, generating design constraints, overseeing layout, coordinating the build of prototypes, bring up and integration of the prototypes and overseeing design verification.
You will also be responsible for releasing all relevant data into Western Digital’s PLM system and working with manufacturing to resolve any production issues. During the development process, you will work closely with other organizations within Western Digital, including product management, component engineering, verification engineering and manufacturing engineering, to assure that the PCBA meets all product and regulatory requirements, and can be effectively verified, manufactured and tested. Additionally, you will conduct design and feature reviews, be accountable for tracking schedules, issues and resolutions, and work with international suppliers and manufacturing locations.
You will possess expertise in high-speed circuit concepts applicable to current generations of PCIe, DDR and SAS/SATA bus architectures. Must have extensive experience specifying and designing power circuits including DC/DC converters and regulators. Shall have up to date knowledgeable on networking standards and best practices. Be proficient at defining and implementing clock distribution circuits. Has broad knowledge on printed circuit board technologies, including micro-strip and strip-line transmission lines, techniques for reducing signal reflections, low loss materials, plating, etc. Familiarity with current generations of X86 and ARM processors is a plus.
You will have extensive experience with schematic capture including generating symbols, use of design constraints, and exporting BOMs. Experience with printed circuit board layout using constraint driven design. Has extensive experience in power integrity and signal integrity simulations. Can demonstrate expertise in board level and system level troubleshooting. Possesses expert understanding of the use of test equipment such as analyzers, high-speed real time scopes, pattern generation and BERT equipment.
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
- 10 years of PCBA development experience in computing, storage or related fields.
- Expert working knowledge of Cadence Allegro Design Entry Capture.
- Working knowledge of Allegro PCB Designer, including use of constraints.
- Expert knowledge of Mentor HyperLynx SI and PI.
