Senior Information Security Engineer

Western Digital’s Information Security organization is seeking a well-rounded security practitioner with balanced technical, process, and communication skills.  As a senior security professional, you will work closely with product engineering and other business functions to assess and improve the security of their existing and proposed work environments.  Being a subject matter expert, you will be required to use your skills and experience to partner with multiple IT peer organizations and internal client groups in the pursuit of achieving business enabling architectures that protect the enterprise from unnecessary risk.
Broad knowledge of security principles must be combined with a practical understanding of computing systems across multiple operating systems, data storage, network controls, and fundamental infrastructure that’s typical within large global enterprises.   Because all engagements will require a close partnership with professionals across IT and relevant business functions, this position requires strong interpersonal skills along with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.


  • Act as primary security partner for product engineering across North America
  • Work closely with IT Architecture, Networking, and Engineering support teams
  • Design secure solutions for complex environments that focus on workflow enablement
  • Understand and document all non-standard configurations across North America
  • Partner with the WD SOC to promote monitoring and compliance validation
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of corporate security policies and procedures
  • Assess the security of third party applications or products prior to their introduction into WD
  • Actively participate in company acquisition integrations

Qualifications

  • 3+ years Info Security experience and 10+ years technology experience
  • Experience with software and hardware product engineering workflows
  • Strong knowledge of computer operating systems including Windows and Linux
  • Strong knowledge of security principles in all areas of IT infrastructure and workflows
  • Practical knowledge of fundamental networking controls including L3 and L7 firewalls
  • Proven ability to conduct security assessments of internal and external solutions
  • Proven ability to author consumable reports of security findings
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional relationship skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced education in technology such as Computer Science or Information Security
Requirements – Desired 
  • Fundamental knowledge of MS Active Directory and SCCM
  • Fundamental knowledge of VMware and infrastructure virtualization
  • Fundamental knowledge of data storage systems and delivery protocols
  • Practical knowledge of Cloud SaaS & IaaS security controls
  • Proven ability to author security policy documents
  • CISSP certification
  • CISA certification
